Abstract:

With an ever-evolving computing landscape, customers are now heading at light speed towards cloud, and many aspects of IT Service Management (ITSM) have to also evolve and change as well to stay relevant. In this exciting session Richard which covers the roadmap that a customer must follow on their cloud adoption path, and will walk through several real customer examples. He will also go over lessons learnt along the way, and the impact to a customers operations team, as part of this transformation. In his session, Richard will detail aspects as they relate to Cloud Service Management and Operations (CSMO).


CSMO refers to the entirety of activities – organized in persona, processes, and tools – that are performed by an organization to plan, design, deliver, operate and control IT and Cloud services offered to customers. Richard will cover reference architectures for CSMO, including solutions for Incident Management and Problem Management. He will show an incident management toolchain implemented by IBM and 3rd party capabilities and products. In addition to the tools, he will further cover the impact of Cloud adoption people, processes and culture on the organization.

 

Biography:

Richard Wilkins was appointed as an IBM Distinguished Engineer during 2015 in recognition of his extensive track record in leading technical challenging, first of a kind, IT Service Management projects. Richard has an extensive record as a senior technical leader in Asia/Pacific, and globally recognized as a vital resource for innovative IBM Cloud solutions and deployments.


At this time he also took on the assignment of ASEAN CTO for IBM, reporting to the IBM ASEAN General Manager, where his responsibilities include coverage of complex large deals across the region.

 

He is also a recognized Thought Leader for the CSMO Expert Labs within IBM Cloud and specializes at assisting customers to adopt cloud ready principles and practices. He has lead the definition and establishment of both Cloud Services Management and Operations and Site Reliability Engineering practices for several large corporations around the world.

 

Richard is also a member of the CTO office for IBM Cloud Architecture and Solution Engineering, teams. He provides leadership and mentoring by developing and then delivering IBM Cloud strategies across the globe. He is also responsible for developing and fostering technical vitality across Asia Pacific Geography.

 

Richard joined IBM in 1989 as an Associate Customer Service Representative for End User Systems. He held various positions throughout his career with IBM, including founding member and lead architect of the Tivoli Asia Pacific Centre Of Excellence. He has more than twenty years of experience in enterprise systems and service management.
